What's the best way to cast on more stitches mid-project? I want to make a pair of fingerless gloves and the pattern I have (Berry Hill fingerless mittens) says the following:

Round 51: knit 5, place 18 stitches onto a piece of waste yarn (these are the thumb stitches and will be worked at the end of the piece); turn work and cast on two stitches purl-wise; turn work again and knit to end of round.


...what does that mean?

Streets of Nippon, part 6/?
characters: Atobe, as usual. Kajimoto, various members of SeiRu and Rikkai.
wordcount: about 4750
genre: SF. Possibly a soap opera. The author is not quite sure. -_-
notes: In which there are meetings, meetings and more meetings, Fuji has Brother Issues, and Rikkai D1 steals the show. As usual.


(Never mind that keeping Fuji Syuusuke from doing exactly as he pleased was about as effective as - well, trying to stop Keigo from doing exactly as he pleased.)




Quick rundown of the Shin Tokyo AU for people who are unfamiliar with it and may be wondering where to begin. It's a cyberpunk-inspired science fiction story, with various schools as rival gangs in a neo-Tokyo of the twenty-fifth century.

So far there are two main stories in the arc:

The Forming of the Sixth
8000 words, one-shot fic. Set a year before Streets of Nippon. It's a Hyoutei story, mainly focused on Oshitari and Taki. Probably a bit easier to follow than the main Streets of Nippon arc, and can pretty much be read on its own.

Streets of Nippon
The main Shin Tokyo story, with six chapters (and a sidefic) so far. Fairly epic, involves just about every character from the pre-Nationals canon. Mainly focused on Rikkai, Hyoutei and Seigaku and the conflicting interests of the various runner syndicates with one another - and with the established authorities. Chapter 1 is here.

My little girl kitten is definitely gone. *sigh* She was always very frail and I constantly worried about her. Butter, the boy cat is a strong, big Tom, and the least friendly. I've never been worried about him making it.

As for work, now that the hurricane seems to be going wide of us, they are regretting all of the extra hours they gave out. I may see my hours cut way back next week. They are also playing, 'force the higher paid employees out' game again. That's where they stick you where they know that you most don't want to be, to make you quit.
